Sensory Play for Early Childhood Development

Children are like sponges. They absorb everything around them, and it changes who they are as a person. That’s why sensory play is so important in a childs development.

Sensory play is a great way to teach children about their world and how it works. It’s hands-on learning that helps them see what makes something feel smooth or rough, hot or cold, and so on. It also helps children learn how to interact with their environment and allows them to develop fine motor skills, language skills, and more.

Here are some examples of sensory play from our child care center:

  • Rubbing different textures against each other (fabrics)
  • Smelling various items (foods)
  • Looking at objects from different angles (books)
  • Playing with water toys (squirt guns)

At Precious Moments Christian Academy, we believe that sensory play plays an important role in children’s development. That’s why we incorporate sensory play into our curriculum at every opportunity.

Children need a variety of experiences to develop properly. Sensory play is just one part of what makes our daycare Pennsylvania such an amazing place for children to learn!

If you’re looking for a preschool in East Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania that offers sensory play classes as part of its curriculum, call us today! We’d love to hear from you!
